Privacy, two ways

Our privacy policy

Every section below comes in two sizes: the full grown-up version on the left, and a kid-sized version you can read together. The grown-up version is the one that counts.

1Children's privacy comes first

Our games (Bubble Count Bay, Letter Lagoon, Kelp Garden Shapes and Iceberg Hop) are made for children aged 4 to 9, so we design them to work without collecting personal information from children. In particular, our games:

  • do not ask children for their name, email, age, photo, voice recording, location or any other personal details;
  • have no accounts, chat, messaging, friend lists, user-generated sharing or public leaderboards;
  • show no advertising and include no advertising or cross-app tracking tools;
  • do not link out to websites, social media or app stores without first passing a grown-up gate;
  • keep in-app purchases behind a grown-up gate, and handle payment entirely through the App Store or Google Play.

We aim to follow applicable children's privacy laws, such as COPPA in the United States and the GDPR's rules on children's data in Europe and the UK. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has sent us personal information (for example, by emailing us), contact us at [email protected] and we will delete it promptly.

Our games never ask who you are or where you live. No ads, no chatting with strangers. Just you, Nori and the sea!

2Who we are

Pocket Narwhal Games ("we", "us") is a small independent studio that makes ad-free educational and casual games for iOS and Android, and runs this website. This policy covers both.

Questions or requests about privacy go to [email protected]. A real person on our team reads every email.

Kid-sized

We're a tiny team that makes games. If a grown-up has a question, they can write to us!

3What we collect in our games

Very little, on purpose.

  • Game progress and settings (levels finished, stickers earned, sound and difficulty settings) are saved on the device itself. We do not receive them.
  • Purchases are processed by Apple or Google. We receive confirmation that an unlock was bought so the game can open it, but not your name or payment details.
  • Crash and performance information: if a game crashes, the platform you downloaded it from may share basic, non-identifying diagnostic reports with us (such as device model, operating system version and what went wrong) under your device's own sharing settings. We use these only to fix bugs.

Our games do not use the camera, microphone, contacts or location.

Kid-sized

Your stars and stickers stay on your tablet or phone. We don't peek!

4What we collect on this website

This website has no sign-up, no comments and no advertising or analytics trackers. Like most websites, our server keeps standard technical logs (such as IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time) to keep the site running and secure.

The site loads fonts from Google Fonts, which means your browser connects to Google's servers and shares your IP address with them so the fonts can be delivered.

If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to write.

Kid-sized

This website is mostly for grown-ups. It just shows our games and how to say hello.

5How we use information

  • to run, secure and fix our games and website;
  • to unlock purchased content and restore it when you reinstall;
  • to answer emails from parents, carers and teachers;
  • to meet legal obligations.

We never use information to build profiles of children, to target advertising, or to encourage more screen time.

Kid-sized

We only use what we need to make the games work and fix bugs. That's it.

6Third parties and sharing

We do not sell or rent personal data, and we never share it for advertising.

Some services we rely on handle limited data under their own privacy policies: Apple's App Store and Google Play (downloads, purchases, optional diagnostics), Google Fonts (website fonts), and the companies that host our website and email. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety of our users.

Kid-sized

We never sell anything about you. Not for all the starfish in the sea.

7How long we keep it

Game progress stays on the device until you delete the app. Server logs are kept only as long as needed for security and troubleshooting, and then deleted. Emails are kept while we're helping you and for a reasonable time afterwards, unless you ask us to delete them sooner. Information about a child that reaches us by mistake is deleted as soon as we notice it.

Kid-sized

If you delete the game, your saved progress goes away too.

8Your rights and choices

You can ask to access, correct or delete any personal information we hold about you or your child, or object to how we use it. Email [email protected] and we'll respond within a reasonable time and as required by law. We may need to confirm you are the parent or guardian before acting on a request about a child.

You can also delete in-game progress at any time by removing the app, and control diagnostic sharing in your device's settings. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

Kid-sized

Your grown-up is in charge and can ask us to delete things any time.

9Changes to this policy

If our games or this website change in a way that affects privacy, we'll update this page and the "Last updated" date at the top. If we ever wanted to collect personal information from children in a new way, we would get verifiable parental consent first, where the law requires it.
